Din: Library Against Ruin
A downloadable game
In the year 2123, against the downfall of civilization at the hands over megalithic corporate mavens known as The Weal, citizens of The Strand erected a great library to memorialize voices interred in rubble. They called it Din, harkening to the interminable drone of those voices whose message would never again see light.
Din is a Solo Tabletop Roleplaying Game which offers the player a chance to bridge two worlds: that of the fictive narrative and that of real life research. As a Historian of the library, their job is to scour the ruined earth in search of lost books and artifacts and upon finding them, review them, trading real-life reading experience for in-game character experience. The game moves back-and-forth between immersion in the game itself and time spent reading books, articles, listening to podcasts or other media forms.
The point of it all is simple. Reading is easily distracted by the urge to play games. Why not marry the two in a single platform where fictive storytelling/journaling coincides with real-world academia?
